Xsights Digital Pty Ltd was honoured to be invited to present at the Pork Innovation Western Australia (PIWA) Research & Development Forum, sharing insights into how machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) can transform animal welfare and management practices on commercial pig farms.
AI-Driven Insights for Pig Welfare
Representing Xsights, Dr Michael Garrett delivered an engaging presentation that explored the ways AI can be used to identify pigs requiring treatment or intervention based on behavioural and environmental data. The session showcased how smart monitoring and predictive analytics are enabling producers to improve welfare outcomes and optimise farm operations.
Dr Garrett presented alongside Dr Rodrigo Pires from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). Together, they highlighted ongoing research within the Food Agility CRC’s Pig Welfare and Pork Provenance project, which focuses on integrating advanced data analytics to enhance traceability, welfare, and productivity within Australia’s pork industry.
