Harnessing AI, Smart Tagging, and Data Analytics to Strengthen Biosecurity in Vietnam

As African Swine Fever (ASF) cases surge across Vietnam – with recent reports citing losses exceeding 100,000 pigs – the need for proactive prevention and rapid detection has never been greater. While vaccine development is progressing, there is still no fully approved or universally effective solution to halt the spread of ASF.

Experts agree that early detection, traceability, and strong biosecurity remain the most reliable tools for containing outbreaks before they escalate.

A Timely Collaboration for Smarter Disease Control

In response, Xsights Digital Pty Ltd has partnered with Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF) on a groundbreaking research project aimed at using technology to combat ASF and general disease with real time compromised pig identification.

Leveraging Xsights’ patented Xiot Tag, the project seeks to detect early warning signs, enabling faster intervention and containment of ASF and general disease, while reducing financial and animal losses for producers.

How the Xiot Tag Works

The Xiot Tag is designed to continuously capture and transmit key health and behavioural indicators, providing producers with actionable, real-time insights.

The data collected includes:

Temperature – Detecting sustained deviations before visible symptoms appear.

Activity – Identifying behavioural changes that may signal illness.

Identity & Location – Tracing individual animal movements within and across farms to support biosecurity and outbreak management.

By combining continuous monitoring with movement traceability, Xsights and TUAF aim to deliver a scalable, cost-effective tool that complements vaccination programs and strengthens farm-level disease control strategies.

Turning Data into Prevention

This collaboration underscores Xsights’ mission to empower producers with AI-driven insights that transform animal health management.

As the ASF threat continues to challenge global pork production, real-time, actionable data is proving to be one of the most powerful defences – the difference between containment and crisis.
